Travellers will have another choice in flight destination from next month when Easyjet begins flights between the Isle of Man and London Luton.

The company made the announcement this morning with tickets going on sale immediately.

Easyjet expect to fly 19,000 passengers between the destinations each year.

Operating three flights a week, the service will start on March 27.

The firm currently provides air links with Gatwick, Liverpool and Bristol.

Easyjet commercial Manager Ali Gayward said: ’We’re delighted to be adding London Luton to Easyjet’s range of destinations from the Isle of Man which will further strengthen connections for customers travelling to and from the UK.

’This announcement today highlights our commitment to providing affordable routes for both leisure and business passengers and we’re sure that it will prove extremely popular.’

Director of ports Ann Reynolds said: ’Easyjet’s decision to start a Luton service is a very exciting opportunity for island residents, in making travel to Luton, Oxfordshire and north London so affordable and for bringing in potential new tourism to the Isle of Man.’

Please don't confuse 'affordable' leisure travel with business travel. A flight to Luton 3 times weekly is a non-event as far as business travel goes. If this serves to cannibalise the 'real' business route to London City making it unviable, is Ann Reynolds still going to be so 'delighted?'
