The competitive action on the Isle of Man Schools’ under-19s football squad’s annual American tour begins tomorrow, Saturday.
The Manx set off from Ronaldsway Airport on Wednesday (Tynwald Day) to embark on its 21st trip to California. The 18-man squad plus three members of staff will be staying in Laguna Beach, Orange County, for the next two weeks.
This is a move from the usual Carlsbad location, back up to where the trip first started all those years ago.
The lads are set to play in the Slammers Classic Cup tournament at Silver Lakes, Narco on Saturday, with the finals on Sunday should they make it through.
A mid-week friendly against host club Pateadores will follow with the second weekend tournament in nearby Dana Point, called the Copa Americana.
The forecast is for extremely hot conditions to which the Manx schoolboys will have to adapt quickly if they are to be successful again this year.
The gorup would like to thank Mann Link Travel and the Isle of Man Government for its continued financial support with this long-running and prestigious trip.
