N-ice way to enjoy the staff Christmas party for an Isle of Man company

It’s only August but soon thoughts in many island offices and workplaces may well be turning to planning the Christmas party.

Most companies might settle for a good old knees up in a bar or restaurant and hotel.

But business communications provider plan.com has different ideas.

It has organised to take all its staff on a four-day, all-expenses paid trip to Reykjavik, Iceland in January 2018 for its company Christmas party.

Employees will experience not one but two Wonders of the modern World – the turquoise pools of Iceland’s Blue Lagoon, and the stunning natural phenomenon of the Northern Lights.

A spokesman said all of this comes after an ‘energetic’ start to 2017 for the company including an ‘unprecedented integration of a whole new Isle of Man sales team, and, even managing to move an entire headquarters … over a weekend!’

The Hope Street, Douglas, team recently enjoyed its summer party at Chester Races followed by a big party in the evening in Liverpool, so in aid of keeping spirits high, the Christmas party plans were teased to all employees with ‘Winter is Coming’ adverts displayed across wall-mounted TV screens. It was later revealed that the surprise is the trip of a life-time to Iceland in early 2018.

Chris Smith, head of product Development said: ‘plan.com works hard but we play harder. From a drink after work with colleagues to competing in a local sporting challenge such as the Tough Mann, or a day-trip to Chester Races and now a trip to Iceland, we’re always willing to go the extra mile to ensure our employees are motivated and rewarded for the hard work they demonstrate day-in, day-out.’

Nicola Patterson, PA to plan.com founder Dan Craddock said: ‘I’ve worked at plan.com since day one and I love the fact that no one ever knows what is around the corner.

‘This will be an experience of a lifetime and I cannot wait for the ride that gets us there.”

More than 60 people work for the business in the island.

Boy, that's what I call putting your money where your mouth is! That sounds like an amazing tech company, that everyone should get involved in. I've already sent my CV in, and no, it's not about trip to Iceland :)

I think it is an excellent human interest story. And even if it is advertising, what's the problem? In my opinion it is far more newsworthy than a group of swimming pool lifeguards receiving an award for....saving a life in a swimming pool

This is not news.......blatant free advertising. Is there such a dearth of news that IOM Today has to resort to this ?
