YOUNG people in India are going to be better off thanks to a donation from the Royal India in Peel.

The restaurant in Atholl Place held two charity nights last week in support of the work of Manx-registered charity Grace Third World Fund.

A portion of the takings, totalling £401, from last Tuesday and Wednesday evenings were donated by the restaurant to the charity.

The nights were well supported and organiser Doreen Kelly, of Peel, thanked everyone who turned up to support the event.

Those who did attend enjoyed the tasty Indian cuisine and left in the knowledge that their night out would be of benefit to others.

The Grace Third World Fund thanked Biju Cherian and the other staff at the restaurant for their support for the charity. The charity will use the funds raised towards buying books for the library at Grace Children’s Home in Visakhapatnam, south India.

The charity supports the home that has three storeys, one of which is now a school and incorporates a library. The library books are used by the children of the home as well as the schoolchildren.

The Grace Third World Fund was set up in 1998. It funded the development of the home where a large number of children now live and are cared for, receiving food, shelter and an education.
