Results of Royal Show
The organisers of the Royal Agricultural Show, which took place earlier this month at Knockaloe in Patrick, have supplied us with the results.
Supreme Champion was Island Francis, a Hereford bull owned by Derek Griffin, which had won the major prize at the Southern Show two weeks earlier.
Reserve Supreme Champion was a Limousin bull, Orrisdale Caribou, owned by the Kermode Family of Orrisdale Farm, Ballasalla.
Second Reserve was dairy Holstein calf owned by Neil and Vicky Masson,
Third Reserve was the Kermode family’s home bred aged Texel ewe.
Champion Light Horse, Celia Hedges Trophy winner was Hannah Bettridge with Applejack.
DAIRY CATTLE SECTION:
Holstein Champion: Sandash Lennon Mary owned by Mr R.A. Kinvig of Ballaglonney, Ronague.
Reserve was Patrick Duplex Chris owned by Mr K.E. Sloane.
The J.J. Teare Silver Cup for Champion Shorthorn was won by the Coole Family of Ballamodha Mooar, Ballasalla.
The Robert H. Callister Silver Challenge Cup for Best Three Manx Bred Shorthorns, owned and bred by the exhibitor, went to Mr R.H. Gelling, C.P.
The J.P. Smith Memorial Cup for the Best Exhibit in the Ayrshire Classes went to J.Q. & W.J. Callow of Balleigh Farm, Kirk Andreas.Breed Champion in Jersey Classes went to Mr M. Kennaugh of Ballatrollag Farm, Grenaby with Ellan Lexington Lass 2.
Hereford Section Champion was Island Francis, Reserve was Island 1 Cloudy 4th, both owned by Mr D. Griffin (who had won Supreme Championship at Southern Show).
Native Cattle (excluding Aberdeen Angus and Hereford) Section: Champion was Ballig Crumple 2, Reserve Ballig Ivar, both South Devons owned by P.J. & H.A. Fletcher of Ballig farm, Jurby East.
Simmental Classes: Champion was Ellan Vannin Cadette owned by Mr A. Huxham of Ballamoar Farm, Ballaugh, Reserve was Ballagraingey Breath-n-Believe owned by Mr T.P.Quayle.
British Blues Classes: Champion was Chibbanagh Dhowin owned by Mr D.G. Watterson of Chibbanagh, Braaid. Reserve was Andreayas Dixie owned by C.A. & S.M. Jones.
Limousin Classes: Champion was Orrisdale Caribou owned by Mr & Mrs P.A. Kermode of Orrisdale Farm, Ballasalla. Reserve was Greeba U-Life owned by Mr R. Chadwick.
Other Continental Breeds: Champion was Ballakilley Francis (Charolais heifer) owned by J.H. & E.A. Quine of Ballakilley Farm, Bride. Reserve Champion was Ballahig Ella, also a Charolais heifer owned by Miss C. Lewney.
Best Manx Bred Beef Animal was Chibbanagh Dhowin owned by Mr D.G. Watterson.
