OCTOBER UNEMPLOYMENT FIGURES FALL

UNEMPLOYMENT has fallen by 14, which brings the jobless total down to 563.
The job market statistics for October show there is an unemployment rate of 1.4 per cent of the economically active population.

During last month, 173 claimants signed on the register and 187 signed off.

Of the total unemployed 404 are men and 159 are women and the figures include 40 who require work permits and 23 who were signing on for National Insurance credits only.

A total of 721 vacancies were notified to the Job Centre, a sizeable increase from September by more than 300, and at the end of the month 357 jobs were held on file.
