I am a keen transport user and have just returned from a transport users holiday in Switzerland.
As soon as you mention the Isle of Man, the first repose you get is, ‘ah, yes the place with the horse trams’. People associate the island with horse trams even before the steam railway, the electric tram, or even the mountain railway.
The horse trams (and the three-mile trip along that beautiful curved promenade) are a heritage icon. To do away with them or try to move them elsewhere would destroy the heritage that makes the Isle of Man such a unique gem.
