Champions set to return
Killer Queen
KILLER Queen are all set to to rock the Villa Marina again this month.
The sensational tribute show, taking place on Thursday, September 20, features Patrick Meyer as Freddie Mercury.
Alongside his four-piece band, he performs a raucous set spanning Queen’s entire recording career.
The University of London students came together in the wake of Freddie’s tragic death. Inspired by the great frontman they created Closet Queen in 1991. Within three successful years the band had changed their name to Killer Queen, a tribute in itself to one of the band’s early chart successes, and secured the first ever West End residency for a tribute band. They’ve gone on to sell out stadiums that Queen themselves sold out. Performing right across the globe, they are now the longest running Queen tribute act in the world. Their longevity is a clue to their quality. Frontman Patrick, whose resembalance to Freddie has been described as ‘spooky’ by Time Out magazine, not only looks the part but, with his three and a half octave tenor range and dynamic showmanship, sounds and feels the part.
In fact guitarist Brian May’s website exclaims: ‘This guy is not to be missed.’
The superb backing band have also been chosen for this special blend of likeness and talent, and this, in combination with dazzling costumes and special effects, goes some way to explaining why Killer Queen were named worldwide Tribute Band of the Year (1999).
Now they return to the island for a third time, hoping for continued sucess.
Promoter Dick Ray explained: ‘This wonderful tribute band has played to capacity business each time we’ve brought them to the Isle of Man and we’re hoping the Manx people will give them the same welcome.’
Suitable for all ages, Killer Queen will be hoping their Manx audience go gaga for their show one more time.
The gig starts at 8pm.
Tickets, costing £20, are available on 600555, at www.villagaiety.com or from the Sea Terminal Welcome Centre.
