To say that Led Zeppelin don’t tour very often is a bit of an understatement.
To say that those who managed to get tickets to their first gig in 27 years were lucky is a massive exaggeration.
Five years ago, on December 10, 2007, Led Zep took to the stage at London’s O2 Arena to headline a tribute concert.
Tickets were allocated via a lottery system because demand was so great.
Around the world, some 20 million people applied to get to the gig – but only 18,000 managed to hold the tickets in their hands and get scanned in to the show.
They were treated to a phenomenal evening, during which founder members John Paul Jones, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant were joined by the son of the late drummer John Bonham to knock out 16 treasured tracks on a historic evening.
Five years after the event, you can enjoy the show in your own home thanks to this brilliant box set release, featuring the gig on two CDs, and a couple of DVDS – one of the show and one of a rehearsal.
The list of classics that Led Zeppelin have to their name is awesome, and Whole Lotta Love, Rock And Roll, Kashmir and Stairway to Heaven all feature on this release.
The film of the concert, called Celebration Day, was shown for one night only at cinemas across the world back in October, where once again thousands of fans battled to get tickets to enjoy the digital experience.
The chances are you weren’t at the gig and won’t ever get the chance to see Led Zeppelin again, but this box set is certainly a good consolation to see a historic live performance by one of the world’s greatest – and most elusive – bands.

Christmas
The classic Christmas album, the best-selling Christmas album no less, has had a makeover.
The Canadian heart-throb and pop singer struck a remarkable nerve with fans when he put out his Christmas album, which kicks off with a great version of It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas.
Whether or not you’re normally a fan of his, you can’t help but be drawn in to the crooner’s big band versions of classic Christmas songs, and he’s done well to still be commanding the festive market in an age when it’s becoming popular again to record a Christmas album. Bob Dylan did it the other year, Rod Stewart has done it this year, but Buble wins hands down.
I’m not sure it’s worth paying out for this new deluxe version of the album if you are one of the seven million who own the previous version – perhaps you could download the new tracks, Frosty The Snowman, Silver Bells and Winter Wonderland. But if this one has eluded you until now, you may as well get on board.
There’s another chance to see one of Buble’s legendary concerts next summer – he has extended his residency at the O2 Arena to 10 dates after selling out the original six.
