AS the community gears up for one of the most anticipated nights of the year, the Isle of Man Newspapers Awards for Excellence, there has been exciting news for one of the award- winners.

Singing sensation Samantha Barks, who had been due to perform at the ceremony tonight (Thursday) and receive a Appleby-sponsored award, is looking at the opportunity of a lifetime.

Full details are still under wraps but the Manx star could be catapulted to worldwide fame in the near future. Although it means she will not be able to attend the ceremony, Sam has lined up another star to take her place at the Villa Marina – Lucie Jones, star of the X Factor and Sam’s co-star in Les Miserables in the West End.
