Psychic Joe Power to perform at Gaiety

PSYCHI phenomenon Joe Power will grace the stage at the Gaiety Theatre this month for yet another spiritual spectacular.

In his 2008 Psychic Connextions Tour of the UK and Ireland, the internationally renowned medium Joe Power – star of Spirit of John Lennon and Living TV's Psychic Investigators – has teamed up with Diane Lazarus, who won Channel 5's Britain's Psychic Challenge.

Joe, who has quite a following in the Island, said: 'The Island is one of the best locations I take my show, we always have fantastic turnouts and the people are great.'

He said: 'In this tour people can expect a night of spectacular mediumship. I will be getting in touch with people's relatives who once lived here but are now dead and I will be passing messages on. But we do keep it light-hearted.'

He added: 'The atmosphere is fantastic, with so many characters not only in the theatre but in the spirit world who like to come and have a joke as well. Some of the things they say can be quite shocking.

'As mediums we have to be funny on stage but we are there also for the serious side of life – to try to get in touch with loved ones. Some people come to these things as a nervous wreck but they leave feeling comforted.'

Joe is particularly known for being the only medium to predict an appearance by a spirit person on a television show.

Not just any spirit but that of John Lennon.

He said: 'That was really putting my reputation on the line. I didn't know I was going to do it but I kept feeling John Lennon coming to me.

'We did it in John Lennon's favourite caf in New York which was next door to where he used to live. He used to hang out there with Yoko Ono.'

He did the seance with John's close friend, known as Uncle Vinny, at the table the couple used to sit around.

He said: 'John told me to tell his friend about the jukebox. Uncle Vinny said "that's right that was the last present Yoko bought him before he was shot".'

It was Uncle Vinny who had bought the LPs for the machine which wasn't known about by the public.

Joe said: 'My microphone went dead during the seance and when the technicians rewound the tape to see why, it was John Lennon's voice coming out of my mouth. His message was 'Peace' and then it went crackly. It was so freaky it was unbelievable.'

He said lights and microphones often go off because spirits work through electricity.

As well as dazzling audiences Joe also puts his talents to very good use in police investigations.

He has worked on the Shannon Matthews, Sarah Payne and Sally Anne Bowman cases.

He said: 'I took Sally Anne's mum to the area where her daughters killer was arrested a couple of days later. I knew his occupation. I said he sees his victims as he serves food – he was a chef.'

He added: 'Sometimes it is quite spooky and weird but if I have a gift to help in these situations I feel OK about it.'

Joe's new DVD, which includes footage from his last visit to the Island, will be available to buy in the Gaiety Theatre and a book about him called The Man Who Sees Dead People will come out later this year.

The evening will start at 7.30pm on Sunday, March 30 at the Gaiety Theatre.

Ticket prices start at 18 and are available on 694555 or www.villagaiety.com
