The Manx Sound Exchange: Relive a little bit of Mannifest

RETURNING: Radio One DJ Jordan Suckley

ONE of the highlights of the Manx summer was Radio One’s trance DJ Jordan Suckley’s Saturday night set in the Manntronica tent at Mannifest.

The atmosphere was memorable, and amid disappointment that there won’t be a Mannifest as we know it in 2013, comes the good news that Suckley is to return as a guest of the Vibrate team at Vibe club in Castletown’s Callow’s Yard.

A big coup for the southern bar, Suckley has been tempted over for the December 15 gig as part of the weekly Saturday night local DJ residency at Vibe. ‘The Mannifest guys helped make this happen,’ said Christian Clague, one of a host of spinners also playing at Vibe that night. ‘It shows there’s a little bit of Mannifest still going on.’

Admission is £12, with doors opening at 8pm.

The night also features a heavy Manx contingent. Opening for the Radio One star in the main room is Sean Butler and Spot On DJ’s Hoff and Pippy.

Upstairs, in a more mellow setting, Christian Clague, Darren Millar and Kym Holland will play, in a change of pace from the action downstairs.

A coach to and from Douglas will set off from the Sea Terminal at 8.30pm, and bring people back to the capital after 1am for a £6 return fare.

Meanwhile, the same deal applies for the weekly Saturday night Vibrate events, with coaches leaving Douglas at 9pm to shepherd folks along to the broad house and funk-based DJ nights.

‘We’re putting the feelers out, waking Castletown up,’ said Christian. ‘And every few months we’re looking to bring over UK DJs, like Jordan in December.’

• Tonight (Friday), a charity band night with a promising line-up is taking place at The Crescent in Douglas, in aid of Rebecca House and The Dwarf Sports Association.

Starting at 7.30pm, Paul Geddes and Friends, indie king Chris Gray, rootsy rocker Nick Barlow and songstress Steph Gomaa will perform. £5 tickets are available from The Bridge or Jamie’s Kitchen in Douglas.
