Wind Orchestra workshop

The Isle of Man Wind Orchestra held three-day workshop at Castle Rushen High School under the baton of Mark Heron, of the Royal Northern College of Music.

It culminated in a concert on Sunday afternoon of the music it had been working on.

The normal ranks of the orchestra were swelled by some very talented youngsters who are not regulars in the orchestra but play with their own school or town orchestras or bands.

Regular conductor Paul Dunderdale thanked the school for hosting the workshop and concert and the Arts Council for its support.

A collection was held for the orchestra's funds.

The orchestra plans a concert of work by British composers in the week prior to Easter, at which some of the above will be given another airing. There will also be work by Vaughan Williams, Holst and Haydn Wood.

The date and venue will be announced shortly.
