MANX-born music legend Robin Gibb is coming home.
The renowned singer and songwriter - one of The Bee Gees alongside brothers Barry and the late Maurice - has confirmed to iomtoday he is buying a house here.

Robin, 56, said he and wife Dwina are 'in the process of buying a property in the Isle of Man'.

'They are looking forward to spending more time in the Island and Robin's mother Barbara is delighted to have a home there once more,' a statement issued through a spokesman added.

The spokesman said that because negotiations are continuing they cannot name the property they want to buy. However, it is understood to be on the outskirts of Peel.

The announcement has raised speculation Robin may be set to perform in the Island, possibly joined by elder brother Barry.

Robin and twin Maurice were born at the Jane Crookall maternity home in Douglas in December 1949, three years after their parents moved here.

The family had already lived in Peel Road and Strand Street before the twins arrived, while they were living in St Catherine's Drive.

They moved to Spring Valley when their parents took over at Union Mills post office. The final move was to Snaefell, Willaston, and in early 1955, the family moved to Manchester in time for twins Maurice and Robin to start school.

At the height of their success Barry and Maurice returned 'home', both living in the Island for a period.

Their parents, and brother Andy, also spent some more time living here.

In 1999, the Isle of Man Post Office issued commemorative stamps, when Robin recalled his first memory was an unpleasant one – a bee sting suffered in Spring Valley.

In recent years, members of the family settled in the United States.

Sadly, Maurice died in January 2003.

As The Bee Gees, the brothers scored a string of worldwide hits during careers which have spanned more than 40 years.

Massachusetts, Jive Talkin', Stayin' Alive and How Deep is Your Love are just some of the singles which have established the group's legendary status.

Father-of-three Robin has also enjoyed some solo success, and is highly regarded as a songwriter and producer for other artists, recently collaborating with former Atomic Kitten Liz McLarnon.
