A NEW coin has been launched in the Island to mark Paddington Bear's 50th anniversary.
The new coin, produced by Pobjoy Mint on behalf of the Isle of Man Government, comes in a miniature suitcase with a miniature replica Paddington and depicts a scene from that first story book.
Stood in his trademark duffel coat and hat Paddington bears the label Wanted on Voyage with a note attached to his coat which reads simply 'Please look after this bear. Thank you.'
The coin is available in cupro nickel, proof sterling silver and gold.
Coloured versions of the cupro nickel and proof sterling silver coins are also available.
The coin in cupro nickel is priced £19.95 and £24.95 in colour.
Paddington first appeared in 1958 as a fictional character in Michael Bond's first children's book A Bear Called Paddington.
Another 10 books have since been written and to mark 50 years of Paddington, the author has now written a new story Paddington Here and Now.
The endearing character was inspired by a lone teddy which Bond noticed on a shelf in a London store on Christmas Eve of 1956.
Unable to resist, Bond bought the bear for his wife and named him Paddington, where they lived.
Just 10 days later he had written his first book.

Following the success of the world's first Pyramid coin launched in December last year, three more Tutankhamun coins have been issued.
A Scarab and Eye of Horus box set, £25.00, and the Tutankhamun Death Mask Pyramid, £15.00 are now available and are set to be as popular as the first.
The Scarab is one of the most stunning pieces of jewellery unearthed from Tutankhamun's tomb.
The symbols that make up the Scarab design spell out Tutankhamun's throne name Nebkheperure, which translates as Lord of the Forms of Re.
Horus, represented as the falcon-headed god, was an important god in Egyptian legend.
The symbol representing his eye, Eye of Horus, was a powerful symbol used to protect from evil.
And the Tutankhamun Death Mask is a triangular shaped coin presented in a full colour encapsulated display card and follows the great success of the Pyramid coin.
The Pyramid coin was the first part of a series which depicts the most wondrous artefacts unearthed in the young pharaoh's tomb in the Valley of the Kings by English archaeologist Howard Carter in 1922.
This coin reveals the spectacular canopic coffinette of Tutankhamun which contained the boy king's mummified internal organs.
It was launched to mark the most anticipated cultural event in 30 years, the return of Tutankhamun's glorious treasures to London's O2 'Tutankhamun and Golden Age of the Pharaohs' exhibition which proved a terrific success.
