CANINE cutsey Indi has been revealed as the winner of Pet Idol 2009.
She was up against 160 other pets, including kittens, pups, rabbits, guinea pigs, a lizard and a hedgehog.

The Yorkshire terrier/shih-tzu's 21-year-old owner Suzie Smart, of Waterloo Road in Ramsey, said: 'I'm really surprised and really pleased. It was my sister Anna who put her in for the competition.'

After topping a public vote in the competition, sponsored by Isle of Man Newspapers and Keigs Photography, Suzie has won a trophy, a portrait of Indi from Keigs, a Paws for Thought grooming voucher and a pet voucher from Sadler Agricultural supplies.

Suzie, who works at the Co-op in Ramsey, has had two-year-old Indi since she was adopted from the MSPCA as a pup.

'She's quite laid back,' she said. 'But he always says "hi" and greets people if they pay attention to her. She's really friendly.'

There were a total of 662 public votes this year.

Today's Vote

Civil servants are to get a lump sum payment of £200 after a union successfully took this year's pay freeze to arbitration. But government claims it could cause job losses. Is it the right decision?
Yes. It is only fair and the £450,000 cost is not that significant.
No. There are plenty of other things that money could go to and what about those with pay freezes in the private sector.
Don't know. It's only fair if you're not one of those who loses their job as a result.
