DARK forces are heading to the Island.
It will be light sabres at the ready when the man who played Darth Vader in the original Star Wars films, Dave Prowse, hops aboard his Deathstar in August to attend a memorabilia fair in Douglas.

He'll be joined by another Star Wars favourite, R2D
2 actor Kenny Baker, Danny John Jules, who played the Cat in 90s sci-fi comedy Red Dwarf, and a host of sporting stars.

Lee Watson and James Collier, of Extreme Art and Gadgets, in Duke Street, Douglas, are organising the event. It is hoped it will become an annual affair.

Other confirmed guests include Eammon McGee, current world welter-weight boxing champion, Phil Neal, former Liverpool FC captain and England midfielder, Neville Southall, ex-Everton player, Archie Gemmill, former Nottingham Forest and Scotland striker and twice European cup winner and TT stars John McGuinness, Adrian Archibald, Paul Hunt and Richard 'Milky' Quayle.

Subject to his availability, they will be joined by John Rhys-Davies, who played Gimli the Dwarf in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and by a surprise Manchester United player and another mystery guest.

The fair will be an opportunity for Extreme to showcase some of its products, which will be on show alongside a Looney Tunes stall.

'It's a fun family day out,' said Lee. 'It's never been done before.'

There will be face painting along with indoor paintballing and Cunningham's Bar and Grill will be providing traditional Canadian snacks.

Visitors will be able to have their pictures taken with the stars and, for a fee, get pictures signed.

The fair will be held from noon until 5pm, and will be followed by a four course meal at the hotel.

The first 200 people through the doors of the fair will go into a raffle for a pair of tickets for the meal.

The stars will attend the dinner and take part in a question and answer session.

There will be 10 tables of 15, plus a spare seat on each table for a star. Prizes, a raffle and an auction will be organised.

Tickets for the dinner are £50 and there will be a charge of £5 for children and £10 for adults, with a family rate of £20 for two adults and two children available, for the fair.

They will be available from next week at Extreme Art and Gadgets.
