EUROPEAN DENTISTS IN DOUGLAS
A DOUGLAS entrepreneur is capitalising on the Island's current dental shortages to bring in his own brand of European dentistry.
Richard Holmes, CEO of software company IncaGold, has teamed up with his German friend Sven Zellmer to open a new private dental practice on Ridgeway Street, Douglas.
The Prime Choice Dental Centre will open on April 18 and incorporates the latest European dental technology. Mr Zellmer says average waiting times will be five minutes and it will offer walk-in services by appointment as well as the option to register.
A team of workers from Germany, Switzerland and the Island are busy constructing six surgeries, that will be staffed by three dentists and an orthodontist. The centre will carry out corrective work and x-rays on-site as well as routine drill and fill jobs.
Mr Holmes said: 'It is a very efficient paperless system, we can show patients what we are going to do using cameras and screens in the surgeries. We will help customers get a fully informed service that doesn't take very long and gets the job done to a high quality.'
He added: 'Our prices are average or possibly below average. We are certainly not the most expensive on the Island.'
Mr Zellmer is a dental technician who has recently moved to the Island from Zurich with his wife Katherina, who is pregnant with twins. She will be the orthodontist at the practice.
He said: 'We have got a surgery in Switzerland, so I decided to look into sourcing material and equipment from here, because of zero tax and so forth, then I thought it would be a good idea to set something up.'
The surgery will offer corporate dental packages and a denplan scheme for clients. From April 18 it will be open from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday and 10am - 4pm on Saturday.
Emergency treatment will be available on Sundays. Anyone wishing to book appointments should ring the reception on 618618.
