GAMING expert Julia Wild has joined the team at human resources and recruitment company Paragon.

Julia has arrived at the firm with a specific remit to utilise her depth of experience, knowledge and global contacts within multi-jurisdictional gaming communities.

This will enable her to maximise the consultancy, induction and training services within this fast growing sector to the benefits of Paragon’s clients.

Paragon is based in Circular road, Douglas.

Julia’s background is marketing and affiliates.

For the past two years she was chief operating officer (COO) for Netgame Services in the Central American country of Guatemala where she oversaw a team of 15 marketing and affiliate managers.

Julia, 30, admitted it was a ‘very amazing experience.’

Online poker

During this period she also managed the PR for two people well known as high stakes players in the online poker world.

They are Ilari ‘Ziigmund’ Sahamies and Sami ‘LarsLuzak’ Kelopuro.

These two poker aces are well known for playing with high stakes and Julia said their online poker games could go on for hours.

Ziigmund and LarsLuzak write blogs at www.coinflip.com and these are said to be well known in online gaming circles.

She also helped publicise the $1 million English Poker Open (www.raketherake.com).

This led to front cover stories in magazines such as Bluff Europe, Poker Magazine Sweden, Poker Pro Europe/ US, Poker Player Magazine and Inside Poker.

Between 2005 and 2008 she was at another organisation called Purple Lounge, where she directed and implemented a comprehensive marketing programme including all elements of online and off line marketing, public information and the affiliate programme.

Julia has also worked in online backgammon as well as supervising the customer service department for Cryptologic between 2003 and 2005.

Mandarin Chinese

Julia, who is half English and half French, graduated from Leeds University with a joint honours degree in Mandarin Chinese and German.

‘I had to work very hard for it and people have commented that it was a strange comb ination. But it meant I got to go to China for one year and Germany for six months,’ explained Julia.

She lives in the island with her husband Fred Roman, who works as an affiliate manager with Poker Stars.

More than 700 people are employed in the island’s thriving e-Gaming industry and Julia is looking forward to her new role with Paragon.

She is accustomed to playing an integral part in all public and consumer communication in developing corporate awareness and publicity, as well as player loyalty, within this industry.

In her seven years of working within the industry she has gained contacts from all around the globe.
