The Isle of Man Bank has announced that it is to close its branch in Laxey.
It is due to shut on January 10.
Bill Shimmins, managing director of Isle of Man Bank, said: ‘Closing a branch is not a decision we take lightly, however demand for our services in the village of Laxey has reduced, as customers choose alternative ways of banking, such as 24-hour online or mobile services.
‘Customers will continue to receive a full branch banking service at Onchan or Ramsey branches.
‘There are no planned redundancies as a result of this sub-branch closure. The staff working at Laxey will be redeployed to other branches.’
The Isle of Man Bank is part of the Royal Bank of Scotland empire.
Last year it closed its branch in Kirk Michael.
The bank’s closure in Laxey means there will be no banks between Ramsey and Onchan.
What do you think? Will this damage Laxey?
When was the last time you had to go into your bank? Is Mr Shimmins right when he suggests that customers choose different ways of banking these days?
