Inquest opens into man who died in police custody

The inquest into the death of a Pulrose man, who died in police custody at Noble’s Hospital, has opened and adjourned.

Steven Jonathan Corkill, aged 27, of Laburnum Avenue, died on Tuesday, June 16, in Ward 9 of the hospital.

The cause of death is yet to be established.

Mr Corkill was born in the Isle of Man and his occupation was given in court as unemployed.

He was arrested on Friday, June 12, on suspicion of drug trafficking.

Coroner of inquests John Needham said that the inquest would resume, with a jury, at a date to be decided.

Investigations into the death are continuing.
