FRESH from their success at the Bonneville Speed Week – where they recorded an average speed of more than 203mph on the salt flats in Utah, USA, to set a new land speed record on a 500cc bike – members of the Lonan Gentleman’s Fellowship, including driver Richard Barks and engine builder Paul Hodgson, were invited guests at The Great Laxey Mine Railway.

They enjoyed the hospitality of the railway volunteers, and after a ride on the railway Fellowship members mingled with the public and volunteers, sharing accounts of their record-breaking achievement.

A few of the members even had a short drive of mine railway engine Ant under supervision of regular driver Stuart Bridson.

Local motorcyclist enthusiasts were also invited to display their machines in the Valley Gardens, alongside tractors from the Laxey Tractor Club.
