Money flows in for Peel RNLI in response to SOS appeal
TEAM WORK: Peel RNLI shore and boat crew raised 308 by washing cars
PEEL RNLI has had a successful SOS appeal after valuable funds were raised.
Peel Ladies’ Lifeboat Guild and the boat crew raised more than £900 for the charity during three events in two days.
The events kicked off with a Sample Our Scones coffee morning held at St Patrick’s Church hall. The scones were a hit and helped raise £324 for Peel RNLI.
A Scoff Our Sandwiches quiz night, run by Ernie Baker, was held at the Manx Legion in Peel.
The fundraiser raised £275 and the winner of the quiz was The Four Amigos.
The Peel Lifeboat station’s shore and boat crew braved the cold to run a charity car wash. During the four hour car wash the crew’s efforts paid off as they raised £308.
Meanwhile, the Manx Fish Producers’ Organisation (MFPO) has also helped out with the presentation of a cheque for £675.
The cheque, which was presented to Malcolm Kelly, lifeboat press officer, was as a result of the last tow of the year by the Manx fleet. The Fishermen’s Mission received a similar amount.
On behalf of the RNLI, Malcolm thanked the MFPO fishermen’s chairman Frankie Horne for their generosity.
The RNLI is grateful for funds raised for the charity.
