THE Diamond Bridge Club of Castletown sponsored the printing of the guide to this weekend’s Hidden Gardens of Port Erin.

Without the guide, the gardens would remain hidden and the event could not take place, said organiser Pam Crowe, and she thanked the club for its generosity.

This is the first time such an event has been held in the village and 19 gardens will be open to members of the public from 10am to 5pm on August 4 and 5.

They include one that was a builder’s scrap yard a few years ago and a garden with a vegetables patch and chickens. ‘It’s the Good Life garden’ said Pam, referring to the television series.

Programmes, at £2, enable entrance to the gardens and are available at outlets island-wide and during the weekend at the railway station in Port Erin.

Proceeds go to the Friends of St John Ambulance that supports the work of the ambulance service.

If wet, the gardens will still be open.
