SLATES FALL: Slates were blown off this roof in Parliament Street

SLATES were blown off properties in Ramsey earlier this week.

Parliament Street was closed to pedestrians and vehicles on Monday as a precaution after slates were blown from a roof opposite the former Courthouse. This property is 18 Parliament Street, above Harmony Homes estate agents.

The emergency road closure was in force between the main street’s junctions with Tower Street and Peel Street and remained in place until midday on Tuesday by which time scaffolding had been put in place at 18 Parliament Street so that roofers can undertake repairs.

Meanwhile, a section of the Mooragh Promenade remained closed at the time of going to press, having been closed on Monday due to slates coming off a roof in the high winds.

The area affected by the road closure was between North Shore Road to Hope Street.
