Southern Chrysanthemum Show’s quality exhibits
GREAT EFFORT: Southern Gardeners Chysanth Show at Morton Hall Castletown. PHOTO: John Maddrell JM121118 (24).
The dull and wet summer meant the number of entries in the Southern Chrysanthemum Show, held in Morton Hall, Castletown, on November 17 and 18, were down, but entries were up to the usual high standard.
Top awards in the chrysanthemum classes were shared between Michael Pemberton, Juan Gill, newcomer Kenny Barnes and John Kennaugh.
Mr Pemberton also won best potatoes in show and best vegetable exhibit overall. John Corkish won a cup and Bill Mizen won best in show for his onions.
Mary Cringle’s confectionery entries were outstanding and she won all the cups, Photography was won by David Kelly and Callum Staley. Wilson Gibb presented the awards and Noel Cringle auctioned off produce; a raffle with a prize of a Christmas cake, made by Jenny Pemberton, was drawn.
The society thanked all who made this such an excellent show.
