A BOAT owner from the south had the traumatic experience of seeing his boat, Deja Tu, being left high and dry on the rocks at Gansey Point last Sunday.

The yacht had been moored in the bay when she broke her moorings and was blown on to the point.

The coastguard was called at 14.50pm and, uncertain about whether there was anyone on board or not, paged Port St Mary lifeboat.

Before being launched it was established no-one was on board and the lifeboat crew stood down.

The coastguard remained at the site until the sea receded to the point the yacht settled on the rocks.

Now a decision about recovering the yacht is in the hands of the insurer.

The options are to lift her off by crane or wait until the tide is high enough for her to float, but the latter option would take another two weeks.
