Nick Watterson is one of 16 hardy cyclists participanting in the arduous ride from Land’s End to John O’Groats to raise funds for the Children’s Centre.

Three of them – Nick, Gaynor Brough and Michelle Meakin – are from insurance company Aon Ltd.

Nick became involved because, he said, ‘it was suggested to me’. He added: ‘Gaynor took up cycling and she wanted a challenge.’

Gaynor only took up cycling a year ago. Nick – who is also Port Erin commissioners’ chairman – enjoys running, so he thinks his fitness is up to the task ahead.

The group leaves Land’s End on July 1 and over the next nine days travels through Cornwall, crosses Dartmoor, follows the Welsh border and Lake District into Scotland, continues via lochs and mountains to John O’Groats.

The back up vehicle, travel and accommodation are all organised by The Children’s Centre and paid for by the participants.
