THIS weekend Ramsey Rotary Club will be joining Rotary Clubs around the world in a 24-hours global ‘swimarathon’.
Saturday’s event will take place at the Northern Swimming Pool in Ramsey, forming part of a worldwide event which aims to get as many Rotary Clubs to raise awareness and funds for Rotary’s project to move towards the eradication of Polio.
The event will see someone around the world swimming to eradicate polio every second throughout the 24-hours of the day: 238 Rotary Clubs representing 132 Rotary Districts in six continents are taking part, with an estimated 15,000 global participants.
Ramsey Rotary Club is aiming to get as many people as possible to swim a minimum of 100 metres (4 lengths of the pool) between noon and 1pm.
Participants are asked to make a nominal minimum donation of £2, or £1 for under-16s, and if they can to raise sponsorship to support the End Polio Now campaign.
Registration forms can be obtained at Ramsey town hall, on the Ramsey Rotary Club website at www.ramseyrotary.im and on the Ramsey Commissioners’ website at www.ramsey.gov.im or by email at info(at)ramseyrotary.im
