Willaston School hosted an open afternoon to celebrate all the work pupils completed during the term towards the Island of Culture.

An exhibition in the school hall featured displays of the children’s work, including art, crafts, projects and photographs of the many visitors and visits the children have enjoyed.

Throughout the school and in each classroom the children were hard at work showcasing their talents, including a live performance of Macbeth and bread making in action.

The school choir, under the direction of Hilary Shimmin, began with a flash mob through the corridors and culminated in a performance in the hall.

This was followed by the recorder group performing Manx melodies.

A selection of old school photographs, loaned by former head teacher Arthur Taggart created real interest, especially as Mr Taggart was present.
