DEFIBRILLATORS have been supplied to football clubs in the west of the island.

Last month a course was held for members of the football clubs to be trained in using the defibrillators, which were kindly donated to all the clubs in the island by Craig’s Heartstrong Foundation.

Members from the football clubs at Michael, St John’s, Foxdale and Peel had training from Phillip Bennett from St John Ambulance, who provides the first aid for the players and coaches.

The skills gained during the day included using the defibrillators, CPR (cardio pulmonary resuscitation), incident management as well as various other lifesaving skills.

The newly qualified players and coaches are Mark Kelly, Juan Callister, James Smith, Rick Holden, Alan Lemaire, Malcolm Blackburn and Norman Kneen.

Thanks went to Craig’s Heartstrong Foundation, Phillip Bennett and St John’s Football Club for use of the facilities for the taining.
