A Douglas pharmacist has won the regional round of a UK competition to find the best-loved pharmacist in the British Isles.
David Halliwell, 49, who work at Lloyds Pharmacy in Governor’s Hill, Douglas, is one of just 18 regional finalists after receiving the highest number of votes from a public vote in the Northern England region.
David was initially shortlisted in the ‘I Love My Pharmacist’ competition for going above and beyond the call of duty after he travelled to London to hand deliver medication for a child so they could go on a family holiday.
‘My patients are my number one priority and I’m really touched and honoured that so many of them have come forward to vote for me. I’ve been overwhelmed by the messages of encouragement and support from the local community,’ David said.
‘It has created a lot of buzz in the pharmacy and it’s really great to see how interested patients have been in the competition.’
The winner of the competition will be announced on November 3.
