The public are to get the chance to plant a cross to commemorate all those from Ramsey and the north who served in the First World War.

The Ramsey branch of the Royal British Legion (RBL) is inviting people to plant 1,000 crosses at the Mooragh Park on Saturday, August 10.

The crosses will be planted to create one huge ‘cross of crosses’ which will later be erected on the banking on the inland side of the park, adjacent to the Sensory Gardens.

RBL branch chairman Ray Ferguson said: ‘We’re encouraging not only the people of Ramsey and the north but from all over the island to help us plant the crosses in specially prepared trays.’
