Police last night seized a ‘significant’ amount of cannabis in two separate raids.
Officers from the central neighbourhood policing team were involved in two separate seizures of the drug in Douglas.
The first seizure was following the execution of a search warrant at an address on Hillside Avenue, where a large quantity of cannabis was seized resulting in a 49-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman being arrested on suspicion of drugs offences.
Inquiries resulted in the man being charged with two offences of being in possession of a class B drug with intent to supply and he will be appearing before court today.
The woman was placed on police bail pending further inquiries.
The second seizure related to a vehicle which was stopped on the outskirts of Douglas and searched by officers where a further significant amount of cannabis was seized. This resulted in the arrest of a 16-year-old boy, who was subsequently placed on police bail pending further enquiries.
Police Sergeant Karl Breadner said: ‘Uniformed officers have dealt with two separate and significant drugs seizures which combined are well in excess of an Isle of Man street value of £20,000 worth of cannabis, along with seizing a quantity of cash as well.
‘At this time though it is not possible to say exactly how much was seized from both incidents as inquiries are progressing, but this is again another great example of pro-active policing to remove a large quantity of cannabis from the island’s streets.’
