A St John’s man charged with causing the death of a woman by dangerous driving has had an application for bail denied.

Donovan Bradley Kitching, aged 30, appeared before Deemster Alastair Montgomerie at the court of General Gaol Delivery yesterday (Thursday).

The application for bail by his advocate Hazel Carroon was turned down.

Kitching has previously pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified, driving without insurance and possession of amphetamines.

He is yet to enter a plea concerning the charge of causing the death by dangerous driving of Gwen Valentine.

Mrs Valentine, a 62-year-old mother of three from Winchester, was visiting family when she was struck by a car on the Tholt-y-Will Road on April 26.

Prosecutor Rachel Braidwood said that another charge of taking a vehicle without consent is likely to be withdrawn.
