A police file on a fatal collision in which a 10-year-old girl died is to be submitted to the Attorney General’s chambers for review.
Alexis French, a year six student at Ballaugh School, was travelling in a BMW with her parents and younger brother on October 5 last year when it was involved in a collision with a bus on the main Castletown to Port Erin road near Ballakaighen Corner.
She was pronounced dead at the hospital. Her brother and father were critically injured and her mother sustained serious injuries. All were transferred to the UK for hospital treatment but have since been discharged.
The driver of the bus and four passengers were treated at Noble’s Hospital for shock and more minor injuries.
Alexis’s father, who was driving the BMW, has now given his account of the crash to police.
A police spokesman said: ‘Following the funeral of his daughter, the driver of the BMW gave an account to the police.
‘A file regarding the circumstances of the collision will now be submitted to the Attorney General’s chambers for review. The delay in progressing this matter has been due to the significant injuries and subsequent recovery of Mr French.’
