AIB staff raise £600 for Haiti quake fund
AIB Isle of Man staff recently held a dress down day in aid of the victims of the Haiti earthquake disaster.
The staff were keen to ensure that the funds raised were put directly to some benefit on the ground rather than into some general fundraising pot.
Following some research the AIB sports and social committee identified a project run by the Rotary Club of Rushen and Western Mann which seemed to fit the bill.
The club is currently raising funds to purchase and distribute 'shelter boxes' which will provide emergency shelter for groups and families affected by the earthquake in Haiti.
Each box contains a tent, blankets, water carriers and water purification packs and many other items which will assist a family of up to 10 people for six months.
Rotary Clubs International Committee chairman John Quaye welcomed the donation by the staff of AIB and assured them that the box would be dispatched and on the ground within days.
Mr Quayle arranged for a sample box to be delivered to the AIB offices on Finch Road so that staff could see first hand where their donations went.
The box is currently on display in the public office in Finch Road so anyone who wishes to donate towards the purchase of further boxes can call into AIB's offices where their donation can be made.
