AIR FARES SET TO TUMBLE
AIR fares have been cut following a decision to slash airport charges.
EuroManx is cutting the lowest fare for flights to London City and Belfast airports. It will review other fares and could make further cuts.
The announcement boosted the Department of Transport's hopes a new airport charging structure would lead to cheaper travel.
In a bid to ensure more cheap seats, the DoT is cutting charges at Ronaldsway Airport by up to 30 per cent.
It produced immediate results as EuroManx announced the same day that the lowest fares on at least two routes will be cut from April 1.
A single fare to London will fall from 53 to 49 and to Belfast from 49 to 45.
Other fares on the routes will be reviewed on March 20.
Sales and marketing manager Seamus Byrne said: 'We feel it is now our duty to follow the precedent set by the DoT and reduce our fares.'
