Atos appeals will be raised in Keys

CONCERNS: Kate Beecroft

CONCERNS: Kate Beecroft

QUESTIONS about Atos Healthcare, the consultancy brought in on a six month trial to carry out fitness for work assessments on incapacity benefit claimants, were due to be raised in the House of Keys today.

Kate Beecroft (Lib Van, Douglas South) had intended to ask Social Care Minister Chris Robertshaw what appeals process were available to a person who disagrees with an Atos assessment.

She also planned to query with the Minister what qualifications a person required to conduct personal capacity assessments in relation to incapacity benefits.

However, Mrs Beecroft was ill and unable to ask the questions, which will be moved to next week’s sitting.

For coverage of the questions that were raised, see this week’s Manx Independent.
