Police in Douglas this afternoon (Monday) appealed for witnesses after four bins were set alight in the rear lanes between Somerset Road, Withington Road and Woodbourne Road.

A police spokesman said: ‘The bins had been left in the lanes or adjacent yards and were extensively damaged by an unknown party setting fire to them shortly before midnight on Wednesday, August 28.’

Constable David Baker, based at Lord Street police station, is currently investigating this matter.

Police want anyone who was in the area at the time or who may have seen any part of what occurred or anything suspicious to ring officers on 631212.
