Bishop Robert Paterson has paid tribute to the Vicar of Malew and Santon, Canon Paul Mothersdale, who died on Saturday.

He said: Following his recent illness it is with great sadness that I announce that our brother in Christ, Canon Paul Mothersdale, died this morning [Saturday]: he rests in peace and rises in glory.’

He had been the priest-in-charge of the parish of Malew since October 2011.

In March 2013, he became a member of the Cathedral Chapter when he was installed as residentiary Canon in the seat of St Columba.

Canon Mothersdale was ordained in 1997 serving firstly as Assistant Curate
