A NEW energy is emerging in Dalby village as people reach for their cooking basins and buttermilk in time for the annual World Bonnag Making Championship.
The Isle of Man Creameries Trophy will be awarded to the winner after the competition on Saturday, March 27, at 7.30pm in Dalby schoolrooms.
Host, John Kennaugh will entertain with anecdotes and Manx recitations and there will be music from Strengyn and Fiona Cain.
Entries should be taken to the concert on a paper plate, with the name and category written on the base.
A new trophy, the Margaret Killey award, is being offered for the best bonnag baked by a woman. There are also children and men's awards.
Retired baker, Bert Winkle from Foxdale will be the judge and the Creameries has offered to supply fresh buttermilk to the first 20 people to claim their pint.
All entries in the competition will be auctioned for Peel Lifeboat, Send a Cow and St James' Church and Restoration Fund.
