Boy, 10, ‘serious’ in UK hospital after being hit by car

A 10-year-old boy was seriously injured in Ramsey yesterday evening (Wednesday) after being hit by a car.

The incident happened at around 6.20pm on North Shore Road and involved a blue BMW driven by a local woman, while the boy was riding a bicycle.

The boy was taken to Noble’s Hospital for treatment but was subsequently flown to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool for further treatment.

His current condition is described as serious, but stable.

A full investigation is under way, led by officers from the Roads Policing Unit, supported by staff from Northern Neighbourhood Policing Team, based at Ramsey.

Sergeant Andy Kneen said: ‘We are eager to speak with anyone who witnessed this collision. Officers spoke to several witnesses last night.

‘I would ask that anyone who witnessed this incident, and who has not yet had their details taken, to please get in touch with the police at Ramsey or any police officer.’
