Changes have been made to child day care standards following a public consultation.
The revised minimum standards aim to ensure child care facilities provide a secure and safe environment for children, so that parents can have confidence that their offspring are being well looked after.
Consultation was completed at the end of April and the Department of Health and Social Care said it had welcomed the interest shown by child care providers, other organisations and individuals.
Revised child day care standards will be available to download on the government’s website. All registered child day care providers will be sent a copy.
Minimum standards have been in place for 10 years, but they have been updated with additional responsibilities and duties under the Regulation of Care Act 2013. Unannounced inspections of centres are regularly carried out to ensure compliance.
