Choir marks anniversary
SINGING FOR YOU: Musical launch their silver jubilee year
POPULAR Manx singing group Musicalé are marking their silver jubilee with a series of special events including concerts, social and fund-raising events.
The 22-strong ensemble performed for the very first time on July 29, 1987, and earlier this year made its 500th performance in concerts, festivals, services and charity events around the island and beyond.
Musicalé’s 25th anniversary celebrations were launched last week at Union Mills Church Hall.
Over the last 25 years Musicalé has made prestigious and acclaimed stage appearances alongside classical chart-toppers The Priests and Russell Watson, as well as performing with Rick Wakeman, Chris de Burgh, Vince Hill and flamboyant American organ virtuoso Carlo Curley.
Under musical director John Riley and with accompanist Jennifer Bird, the ensemble has also enjoyed great success at the Manx Music Festival and were winners of last year’s Isle of Man Festival of Choirs.
The choir has also delighted many a bride and groom with suitably joyous music on their wedding day.
Press officer Geoff Collier said: ‘The members of Musicalé are looking forward enormously to celebrating this very special year and, whilst I can’t reveal too many secrets at the moment, we urge all our supporters to keep any eye out for a number of really exciting – and, yes, some unusual – events, over the coming 12 months!’
