Chris aims to reach Monaco this week

MAN TO MONACO: Chris Allix celebrates reaching the Mediterranean, after paddling across the Irish Sea, through England, across the Channel, and through France

KAYAKER Chris Allix hopes to complete his 3,000-mile Man to Monaco challenge on Wednesday.

After crossing the Irish Sea on June 26, he now has Monaco in his sights.

And in fact, Chris, who celebrated his 60th birthday last week, was making such good progress making his way through the Mediterranean, he was able to take yesterday (Sunday) and today off.

On Saturday, Chris, of Tromode, said: ‘As I paddled around the last Cap I saw Beaulieu, but on the end of the bay on the opposite side was Monaco, yes Monaco.

‘I am almost there, but as the saying goes: it’s not over till the fat lady sings, but in this case she must be tuning her vocal cords!’

He is raising money for Sailing for the Disabled (Isle of Man), Namaste Children’s Home (Nepal), Outward Bound Trust (Monaco), Encompass Trust (UK) and the ICM Charitable Trust (Isle of Man).
