Christmas Day was a record-breaker

SUNDAY was the mildest Christmas Day on record, according to the Met Office.

The temperature reached as high as 12.6C at the Met Office’s base at Ronaldsway.

And it was even warmer in the north of the island – breaking the 13C mark at the Met Office’s automated weather station at the Point of Ayre.

The previous record was a temperature of 11.8C, set on December 25, 1998.

The Met Office’s records date back to 1947.
