Christmas stamps with popular designs from the past will be issued this month as part of the Isle of Man Post Office’s 40th anniversary as an independent postal authority.
Entitled ‘A Christmas Stamp Gallery’ the six stamps featured are the Christmas issues of 1988 and 1990, the ‘Love Came Down’ issue from 1991, 1995’s ‘Winter in Mann’ collection, the ‘Stained Glass’ set of 2005 and the ‘Christmas Trees’ set issued in 2006.
The designs include the Three Wise Men, stained glass windows, winter birds, churches in the snow and Christmas trees.
The overall issue was designed by Emma Cooke of EJC Design, who said: ‘This issue presented the perfect opportunity to revisit some of the beautiful Christmas stamps that have been issued by Isle of Man Post Office over the last 40 years.
‘With 162 previous Christmas stamps to choose from, it was quite a challenge to narrow the selection down to just six stamps. I think the final selection makes a lovely set and I’m looking forward to seeing them on the Christmas post that comes through my letterbox.’
Isle of Man Stamps and Coins general manager Maxine Cannon said the stamps ‘capture a little bit of everything when it comes to Christmas and what it means to so many’.
The stamps will be officially issued on October 17.
