A Peel couple have made history after becoming the first couple to marry at Niarbyl beach.
Leanne Woodbridge and George Harker, both 28, were married there on July 23 in an open marquee, over looking Niarbyl and the south of the island.
Proud mother of the bride, Terry Ann Woodbridge said: ‘While looking for an ideal location to hold a wedding ceremony Niarbyl sprang to mind for its beautiful idyllic location and being close to our home town of Peel, although we were aware than no other actual ceremony had ever been held there.
‘We discussed the possibility of holding the ceremony and reception there with Chris Wilson who runs the Niarbyl restaurant. Chris was really enthusiastic and agreed and literally could not do enough for us to make our day happen. We submitted our application to the registrars and they agreed.’
Leanne was accompanied by her bridesmaids, Sian Killey and Sarah Linehan, and flower girls, Darcy Killey and Martha Wainman, in a service conducted by Patricia Birch. There was even a visit from an ice cream van to refresh the happy couple and guests. The couple’s honeymoon destination was Lombok Island, Indonesia.
George is originally from Leeds and works at the Isle of Man Football Association while Leanne, whom he met at Lancaster University, works at Bramden Investments as a marketing manager.
