DC/AC rock Villa to its foundations
REVIEW: DC/AC and Brazen, Villa Marina, Douglas REVIEWER: John Gregory
---------------
SATURDAY night's gig was the last ever chance to see DC/AC and the band certainly went out in style.
The packed crowd in the Royal Hall lapped up every classic riff, catchy chorus and solo in a hugely entertaining and professional performance.

The band – which emulates a classic line up of AC/DC – features Dick Raine on bass (as Cliff Williams), drummer John Cleator (Phil Rudd), guitarist Kev Cleator (Malcolm Young), vocalist Baz Walton (Bon Scott) and guitarist Paul Daugherty as the school-uniform wearing Angus Young.
They decided to play for one last time to raise money for the Joey Dunlop Foundation and to celebrate Paul's 40th birthday - and what a celebration it turned out to be!
Classic track followed classic track with the likes of Live Wire, Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, Dog Eat Dog, Whole Lotta Rosie, Highway To Hell and Let There Be Rock all getting an airing.
Baz and Paul were brilliant as the two frontmen, strutting about the stage, while John, Kev and Dick made an excellent rhythm section.
The gig really had a big-event feel to it and there was a very special atmosphere all night. Merchandise was on sale to mark the occasion.
The crowd were warmed up nicely by Brazen, which Dick, John and Kev all play in. Shaz Cleator on vocals was as energetic as ever and gave it her all, soon getting the crowd in the mood for an excellent night of rock music.

With a wide range of covers – everything from Zombie by The Cranberries to Metallica's Enter Sandman and a Led Zeppelin medley – it was a great way to start proceedings.
And while everyone enjoyed plenty of great music, the real winner was the Joey Dunlop Foundation, which plans to build holiday accommodation for disabled people in Victoria Road, Douglas.
DC/AC have made 'comebacks' before but if this really does prove to be their last ever gig it was a fitting end to a hell of a ride.
